Get a taste of how we work
Every project is unique, and to ensure it meets your goals—and attracts your audience—we have refined our process over the past 25 years.
Here is our three-step process.
Step 1: Define. We view design as a collaborative process, and begin every project with an in-depth client query. Before we begin any step, we make sure we have a clear and shared understanding of the piece’s purpose, audience and scope. Who is the audience? What impression do we want to impart? We probe until we’re certain we’ve reached the essence of the idea, and have our goals clearly defined.
Step 2: Refine. Using our definition as a guide, we begin translating and directing our ideas and attitudes into objects and images. We doodle. Draw. Deliberate. What image will convey the right attitude? What colors will we use? What should it feel like? What type says it right? Do the elements work together? Do they say what we want to say? Depending on where you stand, this part of the process is either the most fun or the most frustrating. Or both. We vote for both.
Step 3: Design. Not always, but quite often, there is one idea, or solution that rises to the top. The impression that it is “right” is immediately obvious. It has a certain weight … an integrity that draws attention. It says, “Yes.” This is when the design process begins. With an anchoring idea in place, all other decisions are easily made. We carefully guide the project through the production process, making sure every aspect of the design is honored – and delivered – the way it was imagined. On time. On budget. And most importantly, on message.
